Yard Sale Secrets Revealed!

There is no easy way to talk about secrets in one page so that you can read it all in one sitting.  But we are gong to try to bring out key points throughout the site and not just on this page.   As mentioned before, no one person has all the answers and yet a lot of people think that they are experts.   We will admit that we learn something new almost every time we host a yard sale or each weekend we are going to yard sales.     The biggest secret is stick with it and learn!

Some of the most successful items we have picked up at yard sales were on a “gut feeling”.  Never be afraid to try something new for a purchase that might be a bargain.    We sometimes find that the uglier or more bizarre an item is, the better.    The importance of an initial gut feeling can’t be emphasized enough.  Case in point:

I picked up an old scuba regulator that was literally in a yard.  I was immediately drawn to it and thought, wonder if this thing would sell.  Then I self talked and said “I bet it will go, it is an aqualung like Jacques Cousteau used to use.   Being a scuba diver myself, I then looked at it from the standpoint that this item was not new like I was used to.   There was a 10 cent sticker on the item.  I picked it up several times and debated with myself and made comments to my wife.  Finally, I made the decision not to get it.  My wife insisted that I go ahead and get it anyway because it was only 10 cents.  That item later sold for $370.00.  Had I listened to my initial gut feeling, we never would have spent the time debating and look what was given up!

We are all into saving money and going to yard and garage sales is the way to do it!   Whether you are looking for clothing for back to school, office supplies, household items and furnishings, albums, cd’s,  computer games or practically any other item, chances are you will find it at a yard sale.   Sure it may not be exactly what you are looking for or the right color, but the savings might just outweigh getting the same item new.

The real secret for the seller is to make the “junk” that you want to get rid of as enticing as possible.   You can get there by reading —”how to have a successful sale ” on the link .

The real secret for the buyer is to get the item they want for the lowest possible price.   You can get there by reading—”Always be ready to bargain ”.
